The house sleeps ten in five generously sized bedrooms (two doubles, a triple, a twin and a single). Additionally there is a double sofabed in one of the living rooms which can be used by arrangement. All of the bedrooms have nice views, either of the coast or of the downs which rise attractively behind the town.
Other features include: a fully equipped through kitchen diner including washer/dryer, freezer and dishwasher, three bath/shower rooms plus a cloakroom, free to view satellite TV in three rooms, large widescreen colour plasma television with DVD and VHS players in the main living room and Wifi access for guests who bring their own laptops.
The house has exclusive on-road parking for two cars on a private road and a cliff top grassed garden with a tropical tree.
There are still many original Victorian features including high ceilings, panelled staircase, ornate plaster cornicing and ceiling roses, chandeliers and high skirtings.
A high chair, travel cot and small bed are available for young children.
The house is suitable for families and can provide a good venue for a weekend family celebration get-together, like a 50th birthday, Mothers Day or a special wedding anniversary.
The most famous former resident was the composer Sir Edward Elgar who chose to spend his honeymoon in the house in May 1889.
Outside the main season, and when available at short notice, the house is available for short breaks.
